Andaman and Nicobar Islands (आंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप) Population: 356.265. The Andaman and Nicobar (Government (सरकार)) are a group of picturesque Islands (Travel and tourism पर्यटन यात्रा पर्यटन), inhabited and uninhabited, a total of 572 islands, islets and rocks lying in the South Eastern Part of the Bay of Bengal. Port Blair is connected with Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata by air. Paddy, the main food crop, is mostly cultivated in Andaman group of islands, whereas coconut and areca nut are the cash crops of Nicobar group of islands. Field crops, namely, pulses, oilseeds and vegetables are grown, followed by paddy during Rabi season. Business (व्यापार) and Economy (अर्थव्यवस्था). There are 1,374 registered small scale, village and handicrafts units. Chandigarh has become a role model in using information technology (Internet इंटरनेट) to provide fast and user friendly services for the masses (Directories निर्देशिका - Industrial (औद्योगिक) - Media (मीडिया)). The Union Territory Chandigarh has limited area under Agriculture. The agricultural land is being gradually acquired for the expansion of Chandigarh City, and cultivated area has shrunk from 5,441 hectares in 1966 to 1,400 hectares in 2002-03. Government (सरकार) has taken many innovative and novel measures like Wedding Tourism (पर्यटन) (यात्रा पर्यटन). With the focus on extending efficient medical, Educational (शिक्षा) and Entertainment (मनोरंजन) oriented facilities. Dadra and Nagar Haveli (दाद्र और नगर हवेली) Population: 220,490. Capital: Silvassa. Languages: Gujarati and Hindi. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a predominantly rural area with about 79 per cent tribal population. It has about 21,115 hectares under cultivation. Major crop is paddy (Kharif) while Nagli and other hill millets are crops of the area. Among fruits Mango, Chiku and Banana, etc., are also produced. Forests cover 40 per cent of the total geographical area. The Union Territory depends heavily on Maharashtra and Gujarat road network as the territory can be accessed only after crossing these two States from Mumbai. Tourism sector has been assigned high priority, keeping in view the dense forest area and favourable climate. The prominent places of tourist interest are Tadekeshwar Shiva Mandir, Bindrabin, Deer Park at Khanvel, Vanganga Lake and Island Garden, Dadra, Vanvihar Udhyan Mini Zoo, Bal Udhyan, Tribal Museum, and Hirvavan Garden at Silvassa.

Daman and Diu (दमन और दियू) Population: 158,204. Capital: Daman. Language: Gujarati. There are 2930 small-scale and medium-scale industries in Daman and Diu. Two industrial areas have been developed by Omnibus Industrial Development Corporation at Daman. The other industrial areas are Dabhel, Bhimpore, Kachigam and Kadaiya. Important field and garden crops are paddy, ragi, bajra, jowar, groundnut, pulses and beans, wheat, banana, sapota, mango, chickoo, coconut and sugarcane. There are airports both in Daman and Diu. Diu has been connected by air and there is regular air service from Mumbai to Diu. Lakshadweep (लक्षद्वीप). Population: 60,650. Capital: Kavaratti. Languages: Jeseri (Dweep Bhasha) and Mahal. Coconut is the only major crop with a production of 580 lakh nuts per year. The area under cultivation is about 2,598 hectares. Lakshadweep coconut is branded as an organic product. Coconut fibre extraction and conversion of its fibre products is the main industry in the islands. Under Government Sector, there are seven coir fibre factories, seven coir production cum demonstration centers, and four fibre curling units, functioning under coir sector. Tourism is developing into an important industry. Important tourist places are Agatti, Bangaram, Kalpeni, Kadmat, Kavaratti and Minico. Puducherry (पॉंडिचेरी) Population: 974,345. Capital: Puducherry. Languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, English and French Business (व्यापार) and Economy (अर्थव्यवस्था): 7,982 Industrial Units in total with an aggregate investment of Rs 2,177.78 crores provided employment to 93,044 persons. Further, during the financial year 2006-2007 the value of exports in respect of the various products manufactured by the export oriented units is Rs 901.06 crores. Tourism: Located about 160 Km South of Chennai, Puducherry (known in Tamil as Puddcherry), the former French Colony of the early 18th Century, is a charming Indian town with a few enduring pockets of French Culture, and an Ashram set beside the sea. Together with the othe former French enclaves of Karaikal (also in Tamil Nadu), Mahe (Kerala), Yanam (Andhra Pradesh), it now forms the Union, Territory of Puducherry. The uniqueness of this town invariably lies in skilful town planning and Franco Tamil architecture.
